Midsommar

Midsummer Eve is one of the most popular celebrations in Sweden, and always takes place on the Friday between June 19 and 25. The event celebrates the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.

People start the day by picking flowers to decorate a maypole. Lunch typically includes pickled herring, dill potatoes, strawberries, and more. After raising the maypole, Swedes of all ages enjoy circle dancing while singing Små Grodorna (a song about little frogs with no ears)! A fun, fabulous day for all.
